In this English for Job Interview lesson, we’re going to look at more job interview questions and answers in English. More specifically, we’ll look how to respond to the question: “Why did you leave your last job?” We’ll also be going over how to talk about your career goals so you can position yourself to be the ideal candidate for the position you’re applying for.
When asked the question “why are you leaving your current job?” many people begin to get nervous and overwhelmed, as most people believe that employers will look at a job change in a negative manner. The funny thing is, the complete opposite is what is actually happening. Employers love candidates who have career goals, as it helps them determine who is and isn’t a good fit for their company and their vision. With this said, you need to be able to respond to questions like “why did you quit your last job?” in the appropriate manner, or you may struggle to get your message across.
We’ll also look at common English for job interview questions such as:
“Why are you leaving your current position?”
“Where do you see yourself in five years?”
“Do you have any questions for me?”
This video English lesson also provides examples of questions you can ask the interviewer, such as:
“How will you measure the success of the person you hire?”
“What are some of the challenges the person in this position will face?”
“Can you describe a typical day or week in the job?” “How would you describe the culture here?”
“In the past, what has differentiated the people who were good at this job and those who were great?”
