A few weeks ago I visited Tokyo to take some cooking classes with Arigato Japan, and Sharla was free so I asked her to come along for one of them! We learned how to make decoration sushi, which I thought was going to be really hard, but it turns out, once you get the hang of it, it’s really easy.
As you can see though, I was pretty bad at rolling the sushi, so I was glad I was in a classroom where a teacher could help me save my roll before it turned into a disaster.
Cooking classes are a pretty fun way to experience Japanese culture, and a lot of classes accept tourists for drop ins. Arigato Japan also provides guided food tours in the evening, for foodies who want to venture into the deep dining culture of Japan, instead of restricting themselves to restaurants with English menus.
