Autumn Leaf Viewing In Japan | 日本では秋の紅葉を楽しむよー!

Fun Fact, the word “Momiji” (紅葉) is a noun that refers to maple leaves, and the word “Koyo” (紅葉) means “the changing colour of the leaves”, but they are the exact same kanji compound.
I’m sure you’ve heard of “Hanami”, Japan’s popular cherry blossom viewing event in the Spring, but in the Fall, when the leaves start to change colour, the Japanese like to celebrate that as well. Koyo, celebrations start in November, and spread all across Japan as the temperatures drop and the seasons start to change.
In this video, Tatsu and I explore two popular Koyo sites in Saga Prefecture– Kunen-an, (九年庵) and Daikouzenji (大興善寺) Temple.
PS, Sorry I’m not really in this video. I wanted to show you all this stuff, but I didn’t really feel like “vlogging” that day.
